SPILLLL Vol.1 : Spilling the tea on food and feminism

การเมาท์มอยพูดคุยในห้องครัวหรือโต๊ะอาหารของผู้หญิงหรือกลุ่มแม่บ้าน มักถูกมองว่าไร้สาระและไม่สลักสำคัญอะไร แต่สำหรับ SPILLLL กลุ่มดีไซเนอร์จากประเทศไทย เกาหลี และญี่ปุ่น-อเมริกา มองว่า “โต๊ะอาหาร”และ “ห้องครัว” นี่แหละ คือสถานที่ที่วัฒนธรรมถูกหลอมหลวม คือสถานที่ที่ความเป็นอื่นกลายเป็นส่วนหนึ่ง คือสถานที่ที่จุดประกายบทสนธนาทางการเมือง ปฏิบัติการทางสังคม และเฟมินิสม์ คือจุดเริ่มต้นเล็กๆ ที่ยิ่งใหญ่กว่าที่จะสามารถวัดได้ด้วยหน่วยตารางเมตร 

SPILLLL Vol.1 คือซีนริโซกราฟจำนวน 28 หน้า ที่รวบรวมบทสนธนาบนโต๊ะอาหารของกลุ่มเพื่อนสนิทสายครีเอทีฟสี่คนจากประเทศเอเชียตะวันออกและตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ (ไทย เกาหลี และญี่ปุ่น) ที่จับผลัดจับพลูมาเจอกันที่กรุงลอนดอน ประเทศอังกฤษ ค่อยๆ สนิท และผูกพันกันผ่านมื้ออาหารที่นำมาแบ่งปันกันใน potluck party ที่เริ่มจัดขึ้นที่บ้านเช่าของคู่รักเลสเบี้ยนในย่านเคนซิงตัน ซีนเล่มนี้เป็นเล่มแรกในคอลเลคชัน (ที่คาดว่าจะมีสี่เล่ม) เป็นบทสนธนาแรกพบของทั้งสี่คน ที่ชวนทุกคนมาคุยเรื่องขบวนการเฟมินิสต์และเควียร์ของทั้งสามประเทศในแบบเพื่อนเล่าสู่กันฟัง รวมไปถึงการแบ่งปันสูตรอาหาร และประสบการณ์ในฐานะผู้หญิงเควียร์เอเชียนในประเทศตะวันตกที่ถูกมองว่า ‘เจริญแล้ว’ อย่างสหาราชอาณาจักร 

Spill (V.) มีความหมายว่า หก, ล้น, ทะลัก, หกคะเมน, กระเด็น, กระจาย 

นี่จึงเป็นความตั้งใจของทั้งสี่คน ที่จะเทกระจาดประสบการณ์ส่วนตัวและบทสนธนาส่วนบุคคลของพวกเราออกมา เพื่อหวังที่จะจุดประกายการพูดคุยในวงที่กว้างขึ้น และสร้างความเป็นอันหนึ่งอันเดียวให้เกิดขึ้นในวงการเฟมินิสต์และเควียร์ในเอเชียตะวันออกและเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ เครื่องปรุงและของใช้ที่หาได้ในครัว ซีอิ๊ว ซอสมะเขือเทศ พลาสติกแร็ป ฟอยล์ คือวัสดุที่ทั้งถูกหยิบมาใช้ในการเล่าเรื่อง ตัดแปะ และร้อยเรียงเข้าด้วยกัน โดยในเล่มจะมีรูปถ่ายอาหารที่ทำจริง ๆ กินกันจริง ๆ แนบมาด้วย

How do we find solidarity and community through food? 

An ESEA (East and Southeast Asia) queer women's creative collective ‘SPILLLL’ has tried to answer the question through their creative practices, and are launching their first zine filled with discussions on food and feminism of Japan, South Korea, and Thailand. SPILLLL aims to bring gender, queer, multicultural, and ecological narratives to the table (agenda) like a salad bowl. 

In the foreign country of UK, they found solidarity over homemade Asian food, discussing feminism and queerness through dinner table conversations. Often, women’s cooking and chitchat are seen as ‘domestic’ and ‘insignificant’ house tasks. 

Yet, SPILLLL noticed it germinates political discussions and transnational solidarity. Inspired by this, SPILLLL aims to disseminate our experiences to deliver and deepen multifaceted discussions through diverse creative languages. 

By sharing recipes to experiences queer ESEA female immigrants in and from different countries: Japan/America, Thailand, and South Korea, <SPILLLL vol 01> is a 28 pages risograph zine that weaves political issues with something so close daily to us- food.

A London-based collective+studio of ESEA (East / South-East Asian) queer women creatives who are figuring out how to bring a salad of non-western heritage, eco-feminism, queerness, food politics, and marginalised communal narratives to the table.
